Perspective It's about how you see it, you may view it from a man's view, worm's view or bird's view. In other scenario, you may look at the glass either half full or half empty. It's just a matter of perspective. ***      Today, I finally met Sir Basug's class. Sir Arman Basug is my coordinating teacher and I felt so lucky and privileged to be handled by him since he is very supportive and hands-on to my practicum here in UPIS. I am very much impressed how Sir Basug maximized the student's potential to learn as he sent out his lectures in advance so during the class proper, he will add a thorough review and class demo as Art Lessons are definitely can be maximized through practice.      Even me, I found myself well engaged with his class as I am also doing this week's activity: Lines and perspective. I also did my sketches and get reminded that this activity is fundamental, specially for the upcoming years these students will undergo with their curr...

Home  After observing a class and how teacher Bam and his students interact, and how life lessons can be integrated into the main lesson itself, it reminds me of having dinner with my family and how my parents gave advice to my siblings while eating. It is very fascinating and heartwarming at the same time. It really reminds me of home.  ***      It's also about going back to my roots, which is teaching. I really feel like this is what I ought to do after having series of corporate jobs. I remembered being an art workshop facilitator in the past and it gave me so much joy. But due to financial constraint (as I have to support my siblings), I have to find a corporate job that pays more. But all these time, t eaching is by far the one really closest to my heart even though my current job is quite easy but its routinary, as compared to teaching, it's very spontaneous and in a way give you that sense of purpose and fulfillment.     ...

Culture Shock I remembered whe n I had my first international trip to Hong Kong. I was completely blown away with the unfamiliar culture, it feels like in a Sofia Coppola's film: "Lost in Translation", wherein I have to orient myself with the art of effective communication: expressing or opening oneself to others. Now, I also have to learn the culture of remote teaching ethics, online instruction and  assessment. ***      It is indeed an experimental era as we are all in the infancy stage of unit wide online learning. I am quite impressed how even the specialists on this field and professors in the esteemed universities in the U.S. took this as a humbling experience as even themselves have to learn from their colleagues and may take heed from other international counterparts to have an ongoing and collaborative sharing of best practices.       I guess to most challenging task for me is the load that we, future teachers are taking. Since the a...
